How can your company participate?
Localization as a field has been growing exponentially over the last few years. Through conferences such as this that are interactive and geared towards students, we hope to foster the future of the industry. We hope you will join us in our inaugural edition of our TLM CampLoc. Here are a few ways you can participate:
Sponsor an event for the CampLoc Forum:
This forum is an investment in the future of the localization industry and also provides an opportunity for key players in localization departments to come in contact with future employees. We are willing to work with companies to coordinate the sessions’ contents and run the events the day of as well. All we would require of the companies is the space and the knowledge that you have. The rest you can leave up to us!
Not able to sponsor an event yourselves during this time frame?
There are still other options for you. Maybe your team is too busy to run an event, you could sponsor an event space for a networking event or one of our panels. You could also discuss with us the option of a future site visit with students from MIIS. We are discussing a possible extension of the forum where we do a one-day site visit to various companies throughout the school year as well.
Difficulties with hosting students and an event in your space due to constrictions?
Spread the word! Even if you are unable to host us, you may know someone who would be more than willing to help support our event. If you know of any connections or people who might be interested in supporting our cause, feel free to share our contact information or direct them to this site. By giving back to the current students at MIIS, know that you are giving back to the future of the localization industry.
Benefits
What benefits would there be as a company?
- CampLoc provides a philanthropic opportunity for companies to give back and contribute to the future of the localization industry. By supporting MIIS students in their studies at MIIS, you are also supporting future employees and colleagues in the industry.
- In that same vein, from a recruitment standpoint, this can also serve as an opportunity to promote your company in a more organic/personal way through speaking directly to potential hires that already have an interest in your company.
- CampLoc also offers a way to maintain/reinforce connections with MIIS, the only graduate-level, industry-specific masters program in the nation, as well as forging stronger connections with students and alumni for future collaborations.
Online Events
Want to be a part of our online events?
For those companies who are international or out of CA who can’t be a part of our conference held in Spring from March 17th to March 20th. The virtual events are another way we can connect you and our Translation and Localization Managment students at Middlebury Institute of International Studies. The virtual events can be held throughout the school year at your best convenience and can be a combination of lectures, presentations, panels, round table discussions about the future of localization, a day in the life of your company, different localization professions, and other topics unique to your company.
Here are potential panel topics/lectures ideas:
- A company walks us through a new localization technology or explains how they use AI and machine learning in localization projects.
- A localization engineering team walks us through internationalizing code and ways for engineers to work more effectively with translators.
- We could talk directly to people working as Head of Localization in the field and several others in their department as they explain their career paths and the tips they have for those of us yet to enter the industry.
- We could have a panel discussion on the future of 5G and the 4th industrial revolution and how it will affect the future of the localization field.
- A company could host something more interactive where students can participate in an actual project or see how your processes work.
These events can vary in length and size depending on what the company is able to accommodate and what kind of session it is. The average attendance for events will be around 15-30 people. These ideas and concepts are not set in stone and we have the flexibility to adapt the contents to what each company is able and willing to provide.
Lecture: 1 hour 30 minutes with Q&A
Panel: 1 hour 30 minutes with Q&A
Workshop: 1 hour 30 minutes with Q&A
Networking Session: Alumni Event and or Networking event between employees and MIIS students
