The TILM Mentorship Program is a student-led effort to connect MIIS students in the TLM and TI programs with mentors, both with fellow students and professionals in the industry.
Duties
You will be a leader of the TILM Mentorship Program, which is a major project organized by Practicum students (with oversight by Max Troyer). The leadership team will be collectively responsible for receiving applications, website maintenance, creating pairings, and managing participant emails, questions, or concerns. You must be a rising 2nd-year student who is required to take Practicum. AE or O-TLM students are not eligible to be a program leader, as Practicum is not a required course in those tracks.
If selected to be a part of the new team, you will be required to undergo a training period with the current leaders. You will shadow the current team, taking part in meetings and collaborative efforts, in order to learn how to run the program effectively. You will be introduced to the team’s resources and how to use them.
After training, you will be given approval to work on the TILM Mentorship Program for Practicum the following semester. You may work on other Practicum projects simultaneously, but please be aware that the TILM Mentorship Program requires a lot of hours. It is recommended you do not do a high-commitment internship or another large-scale project while working on the TILM Mentorship Program. Also, while acting as a program leader, you cannot participate in the program as a mentor or mentee until spring semester.
Qualifications:
– Strong English writing skills
– Able to be objective and compassionate in decision making
– Responsible, committed to the program, good work ethic
– Detail-oriented
– Working knowledge of how to use WordPress (sites.miis.edu)
– Works well in teams
– Be willing to forgo participating in the mentorship program for fall semester to avoid the optics of an “inside scoop”
If selected, you will receive a request for a short interview.
